Region 9 Members,Our January 21st Event was well attended with about 100 members attending the High Point Awards luncheon and 130 for the Horseman’s Awards dinner. Karen Campbell did a wonderful presentation on “It’s Not Just Dressage” and her power point was very informative. Our silent auction raised some funds for the Youth Scholarship Program but we need to look at other avenues of income for this program. The Board is going take a hard look at the stallion service auction, which was not well supported this year, and see if it needs replaced with another program.Our delegates meeting discussed the Event Funding dollars the Regional Shows will receive this year and also the date changes that will effect several of our shows in 2013. The next few years will present many challenges for the Region but with the help of our members I am sure we will move forward and help make this Region even stronger.The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Francine Dismukes. Francine has been involved with all areas of the Arabian industry as a judge, exhibitor, breeder and trainer. We are very proud that she has been a member of our Region all these years.I would ask that each club try and have delegates that will take the time to attend our delegate meetings and convention each year. The next delegate meeting will be at our Regional Show in Ft. Worth. Convention will be in Denver this year. I also encourage each club to send a monthly report to me no later than the 20th of the month so I have Regional news for the AHA Insider that comes out monthly. It is not only the responsibility of the Director and Board to keep the Region informed but also the responsibility of the clubs to keep their Regional Board informed of club activities and information they feel is important to all members of Region 9.The show year is underway with many of our exhibitors getting ready to travel to AZ for the 57th Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. The Region is working hard on their two Regional Championship Shows that will take place back to back in Ft. Worth this June. Bill Eash will manage the Sport Horse Show and Carrie Woolverton will manage the Regional Championship Show. We look forward to an active year with all the shows getting underway.
