Hello Region 9 Members, I hope everyone enjoyed a warm and delightful Thanksgiving with family and friends. I would like to thank our outgoing Director, Pat Barton, for the past years of service as our Region 9 Director, my thanks to the members and delegates for selecting me as your new Director. I look forward to seeing many of you at our Horsemen’s Awards Banquet and Stallion Service Auction, to be held January 21, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ft. Worth. You can book your room by calling 817-293-3088; mention Region 9 for a rate of $85 a night. If you have not attended this event I would encourage you to put this on your calendar for 2012. This is a great opportunity to network with other Arabian owners and enjoy several informative forums. The presentation “It’s Not Just Dressage”, presented by Karen Campbell, will offer those unfamiliar with the world of Sport Horse a glimpse into that arena. Also the youth will enjoy Gwen Nix, a leader in the industry when it comes to coaching Equitation riders. Region 9 will host the Championship Show in Ft. Worth on June 13-16. Also joining us at Will Rogers in Ft. Worth will be our Region 9 Sport Horse Show June 7-10, 2012. Please mark your calendars for these two great Regional shows. Look for both prize list to appear ONLINE March, 2012. “The Reichert Celebration”, a multi breed show, with substantial prize money will include an Arabian division next September. This show is held at the Will Rogers facility. This will be an excellent event to showcase your horses outside of our Arabian community. There will be activities for the youth of our region along with an opportunity to win major awards. These are just a few of our wonderful events for 2012 and I will work hard to keep you informed of other events in our Region, AHA and the Board of Directors. The Stallion Service Auction is held to help fund the Youth Scholarship Program and the Halter Futurities. This event is held each year in January at our Region 9 Extravaganza. Information regarding the Region 9 Championship Shows can be found at the Regional Show and Sport Horse sites.
